According to Grado Zero Espace's philosophy, to rediscover natural fibres means to investigate on the characteristics and peculiarities which these fibres are able to provide to the final fabric, as well as to pay attention to the themes concerning environmental friendliness and healthiness. The idea of weaving the Hinoki fibre was born from these perspectives; the raw material is a eastern cypress whose fibre holds particular properties which make it suitable for the use in the clothing sector.
Thanks to the intrinsic properties of the Hinoki fibre, GZE developed a hybrid fabric showing anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties: specific tests, performed by a qualified external laboratory following the UNI EN ISO 20645, proved the antibacterial efficiency of a Hinoki/Cotton fabric against Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus, with a reduction of the bacterial growth up to 60% and 85%, respectively.
Moreover, thanks to the well-known relaxing properties of Hinoki, this fibre becomes a "therapeutic" instrument according to the feng-shui principles, ancient Chinese art where the effect of the materials becomes important for man's well-being in the surrounding environments.
