Quota Zero mountain jacket. Limited edition

Materials utilized in the project
 |
Shape memory membrane. This kind of fabric provides maximum protection from wind and water,
with exceptionally good breathability. It is extremely thin and light, yet strong and durable.
In its liquid state, water cannot penetrate the fabric, whilst water vapour produced by sweating
can escape easily so the inner microclimate remains warm and dry. Incorporated is an oleophobic
substance that allows the outward flow of vapour but prevents the penetration of pollutants
that could affect the impermeability. The membrane, instead, adapts its molecular structure
and permeability according to thermal variations in the environment, guaranteeing a constant body
temperature. This membrane is able to modify its own structure autonomously according to thermal
variations. The result is maximum comfort and convenience.

3D fabric. Climbers have to carry heavy equipment on their backs that can cause them serious
discomfort and sweating. Thus it was deemed appropriate to use a special 3D fabric, which is raised
and porous, on the back to protect and above all guarantee optimal breathability.
| |
Bielastic fabric. Bielastic fabric conforms perfectly with the body because it has
an elasticity which is superior to that of traditional stretch fabrics, and offers maximum comfort
and freedom of movement. This characteristic is useful in garments designed for extreme conditions
in which the wearer has to do strenuous activities and needs the maximum amount of freedom of movement.

Reinforced TurtleskinTM. This material is higher reinforced fabric
developed to Pathfinder and Mars mission. It offers the best puncture protection. It’s able to resist
abrasion caused by the rubbing of the equipment against the shoulder, this material is used to reinforce
the areas that are the most exposed to wear and tear, in order to prolong durability. Use of this fabric
eliminates the need for heavier anti-abrasive devices such as extra layers, and reinforces the fabric
where it is most needed. Its aramid fibre gives the fabric extraordinary durability, without compromising
its lightness and flexibility. Another type of reinforcement, which is both lighter and more flexible
than the above-mentioned fabric, is applied to two other vulnerable areas, namely the palms of the gloves
and the elbows.

There are three different versions of the Quota Zero's inner thermal padding:
 |
ThinsulateTM. Produced by 3M, it guarantees an high thermal insulation
in harsh cold weather conditions, it avoids loss of heat whilst mantaining an high breathability.
Moreover it is very durable, soft to the touch and wash resistant. All this characteristics are inside
a very thin structure without the "pillow effect" of normal padded jackets and with a wide freedom of
movement. | |
NanogelTM. It is an Aerogel's version produced by Cabot corp. Areogels are
materials well known for their extraordinary characteristics of lightness and thermal insulation capabilities,
they are open mesoporous structures of solid materials which contain air from a minimum of 50% to a maximum
of 99,8% and are considered the best insulators in the world. After the air istself obviously!
Inside the jacket, thermographic studies have indentified some areas in the need of a maximum body's temperature
control, so these have been protected with Aerogel paddings anatomically shaped. | | Blue Air. This is a material born from the latest research about
thermal insulation. It is a polymer also named "Polynsulate", it is very lightweight and transpirant.
His mesoporous structure allows humidity produced by the body to be gradually released outside. |
